Gissing is founder-member of the Open MiFID Alliance (OMA)

Early in April Gissing Software announced its membership of the Open MiFID Alliance (OMA), along with other founder members Sun Microsystems, ULLINK, Mobius, edge IPK and French systems integrator Avitis. SAS has subsequently joined the Alliance.

The OMA was founded with the clear objective of making the implementation of technology systems for MiFID compliance easier without prescribing a particular set of applications.

OMA members recognize that complying with MiFID is so complex, and affects so many parts of the business, that no single technology supplier can provide all the necessary systems. This means that any organization trying to comply with MiFID will need solutions from different companies, and that means integrating them together in a number of areas.

The members of OMA believe that by working closely together, and identifying in advance the likely interfaces between our respective products, and making sure that the interconnection is a seamless as possible, we can reduce both the time to implement and the risk for our various clients.

But it doesn’t mean that OMA is a take-it or leave-it one-stop-shop. Far from it. Clients can choose one, two or more technology solutions from OMA members and combine them with other solutions from other providers. Just that the more OMA solutions they choose, the easier it will be to implement and integrate them.

The members continue to do our own individual sales and marketing, and win our own clients while jointly marketing the integration of the solutions at the same time.
