Gissing RealtimeXL from Gissing Software - Front Office Application of the Year for 2005

Gissing RealtimeXL from Gissing Software, a leading supplier of software and services to financial institutions, received The Banker Technology Award 2005 for Front Office Application of the Year.

The Awards

The Banker Technology Awards, sponsored by The Banker, part of the Financial Times Group, honours innovative solutions that have contributed to advancing shareholder value and customer service within the last 12 months. They also provide a guide for financial services professionals on the leading solutions and ‘best practices’ in the market. In their third year, the Awards attracted over 180 entries from banks and vendors.

Dan Barnes, Financial Systems Editor at The Banker, says:

“Just mentioning the level of spreadsheet usage in the front office was enough to upset our judges, so Gissing Software was quickly highlighted as a winner here.
RealtimeXL is an application that converts spreadsheets into a format in which they can be combined with multi-vendor data feeds; allows subscription to and publication of new prices; and provides fast, accurate calculation of spreads against benchmarks or option volatilities.
…The system’s flexibility achieved a much needed reduction in cost (halving spreadsheet costs in some cases) and… reduced CPU usage whilst increasing reliability.”

Judging Criteria

The nominations were judged on the basis of the following objective and results-oriented criteria:

  • Measurable improvement to revenue enhancement or cost reduction
  • Strategic value of implementations of the solution
  • Improvements in customer acquisition, retention and satisfaction
  • Competitive advantage gained
  • Improvement of internal processes and structures
  • Innovative nature of the solution
